Dear New Hope AME Church Family,
Be reminded this week to take your rest. Rest is not weakness; rest is worship. Rest is trust. Rest is surrender. God is and will be present in the very moments when you choose to rest, renewing your strength and restoring your spirit. Allow yourself the gift of holy rest, knowing God is holding all things together.
This Wednesday for Bible Study, we will turn to Isaiah 9:2–7 (NRSVUE) as we begin our Advent reflections with the theme Advent I: The People Who Walked in Darkness. As we approach this sacred season, let us pause and reflect on the hope, light, and promise woven through this prophetic text. May the Word anchor us as we enter a time of expectation and preparation.
Our sermon theme for this Sunday is “The Stump, Its Roots” from Isaiah 11:1–10 (NRSVUE). We will explore how God brings new life out of what appears cut down or lifeless. From stumps and roots—places that look barren—God orchestrates a new thing for His glory. What seems small or forgotten may very well be the beginning of God’s next move.
As we prepare for our 24-Hour Prayer Session at the church from December 12th (noon) to December 13th (noon), I encourage each of you to begin praying now.
- Prayer will guide us.
- Prayer will steady us.
- Prayer will comfort us.
Let us cultivate hearts that are ready to intercede, listen, and seek God together.
Take the opportunity this week to invite someone to worship with us on Sunday, to join us for Bible Study on Wednesday, or to attend Church School at 8:45 AM. These are moments of nourishment and connection, and I look forward to meeting the people you invite.
Family, let us continue walking faithfully as God leads us forward.
Let’s Keep the Charge of the Lord!!!
With gratitude and expectation,
Reverend Aaron Tinch
Pastor
