Weekly Encouragement – June 1, 2026

Grace and peace to you.

As we move through this week, I encourage you to remember to pray. Prayer and action go hand in hand. Prayer prepares us for the work, and action demonstrates our faith in the God to whom we pray. Take time to recognize the “this kind” situations in your life, the circumstances that seem overwhelming, persistent, or beyond your ability to resolve. Lift those situations before God in prayer and trust that God is able to do what we cannot.

Our Wednesday Night Bible Study will focus on Romans 12:1–8 (NRSVUE) under the theme “A Living Sacrifice” – Transforming Lives and Faithful Service. Together, we will explore what it means to offer ourselves wholly to God and to use our gifts in service to the body of Christ. As disciples, we are called not merely to attend church but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds and to faithfully serve according to God’s purpose.

The sermon theme for the week is “Start on Your Way” from John 4:43–54 (NRSVUE). As Father’s Day approaches in the coming weeks, we will continue exploring fathers and their belief systems through the lens of Scripture. This account challenges us to consider what it means to trust God’s word and begin moving in faith before we see the outcome.

The Lay Ministry will be hosting an Interest Meeting on June 14, 2026, immediately following worship service in the chapel area. The purpose of the Lay Ministry is to teach, train, and empower the laity of the African Methodist Episcopal Church so that laypersons may maximize their God-given abilities and skills for ministry and service. If you are interested in growing in your knowledge, leadership, and service within the church, I encourage you to attend.

Please also mark your calendars for Vacation Bible School, which will take place June 24–26, 2026. Classes will be available for all ages. Register, participate, and invite others to attend as we gather for learning, fellowship, and spiritual growth.

As a congregation, let us accept a simple challenge: Invite at least one person to join us for Bible Study, Church School, or Worship Service. A single invitation can make an eternal difference in someone’s life.

Let us remain prayerful, active, and committed as we continue to keep the charge of the Lord.

With faith and expectation,
